Last week’s Vintage Sunday was a lot more recent than our usual batch so we’re taking a giant leap backwards, all the way to 1980 for Ozzy‘s debut solo album.

Attempting to show Sabbath just what they were missing after his departure from the band the album marks Osbourne’s second attempt at a solo career and it was exceptionally successful.

Iconic tracks like Crazy Train and Mr Crowley gave this album a launchpad to greatness. (more…)

Be Silent: Living loud!

Tuesday is breaking bands day at Keep Calm and Rock On, and today we have someone we premiered last weekend, Be Silent.

Still in their first year as a band they were one of the many who got in touch on twitter and we think they have real potential.

The quartet from Laihia, Finland sound Trivium-esque, bringing their own brand of melodic metal to the world.

It’s Sunday again and that can only mean one thing, it’s time to look back and salute an album of yesteryear.

This is another of my personal favourites and there is no denying it a place among the greatest party albums.

The rhyme is a bit terrible yes but Tuesdays are the days when we at Keep Calm and Rock On look for a new band to share with you all and this week it’s post-hardcore outfit Falling with Style.

We’ve been singing the praises of these guys since they rocked the Red Bull tent at Download this year and we can’t wait to hear more from them.

Hailing from Pontypridd in Wales they even score extra points from our review system for being welsh but to be honest, they don’t need the help. (more…)
